A New Women’s Major Champion Will Be Crowned

Jun 6, 2019

What a tournament we have seen so far in Paris at the French Open of 2019, the business end of the 2019 Roland Garros tournament is fast approaching and we will definitely be seeing a new women’s Grand Slam singles champion at the conclusion of the tournament, Ashleigh Barty, Amanda Anisimova, Johanna Konta and Marketa Vondrousova are the remaining four women still in the tournament, on the men’s side Dominic Thiem is the only player to yet taste Grand Slam success with the big three of Djokovic, Nadal and Federer continuing to impress.

Prior to this tournament beginning, the women’s singles draw looked to be a difficult one to predict and that has certainly proven to be the case with none of the four women remaining ever previously making a major singles final before, Konta has been the closest with two previous semi-final appearances at Wimbledon “17″ and AO “16″ respectively, Barty made the quarter-finals of the Australian Open earlier this year which was her previous best performance, the best result that Anisimova and Vondrousova have previously achieved in a Slam prior to RG “19″ has been reaching the 4th round, Anisimova made the round of sixteen in Melbourne earlier this year and Vondrousova achieved the same result in New York last year at the US Open.

Two of the four women mentioned above will obviously be contesting their first ever Grand Slam singles final, what an exciting time for all four women to be playing for a spot in a major singles final, one of them will be crowned the women’s champion at Roland Garros for 2019 and the winner will be yet another first time Grand Slam singles champion, we have seen plenty of new champions among the women in recent years and the trend will continue in Paris again this year, so…the question remains, which woman is going to claim all the glory at the French Open in 2019?
