Topic: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Dear all,

after this great 2014-Yoda Cup Guru Race, I decided to create a thread with the link to the LIVE Guru race.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc … lMGc#gid=0

There are many things go can find on this spreadsheet:

First, on the left, the contenders and the points earned in the past 4 Grand Slams. This is like a yearly based rankings to see who had the best last 4 tournaments in the men's, women's and combined. This is equivalent to the ATP Rankings.

The next 4 sections are the 4 different GS. You can find the total points earned as well as the points you collected in men's and women's. These scores will be updated during the slams. In bold characters are the best scores in each category (men's, women's and combined). You can find your rank in the  concerned Yoda Cup too.

Finally, on the right, stands the Guru-Race. It is the updated points earned during the current civil year, starting with the Australian Open. This is the most important competition and it delivers the Guru title which is the equivalent as "year-end world number one" in real tennis. You are allowed to brag for a whole year and you should act as the spritual leader of the competition!

All the contenders are sorted based on their Annual SGR (Skywalker Gsft Rankings).

If you have any suggestions, questions or remarks, feel free to share!

UPDATED !

Arnaud

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Great stuff as usual Arnaud. big_smile

I was going to make a suggestion to call the rankings the Jedi GSFT Rankings but the "Force" was always with Luke huh. lol

EDIT: It's plain to see from those stats that the US Open hurt your Guru hopes eh Arnaud, 5th, 5th, 1st and 10th, the Big Apple didn't let you take the final bite eh mate. wink

I started slow but improved with each Slam this year, 8th, 6th, 2nd and 1st....my results at SW19 and in New York catapulted me to Guru status for 2014. big_smile

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Hence your wholly appropriate nickname: Sod Boy Flavia.  It's how you got there, Tony.  Embrace it!  ;-D

Let's tell it like it is, friends.  Here are the contenders: Tony, Arnaud, Milo, Charles, Snolly, Dragan & me.
I list myself last out of convention only.  Clearly, I'm not 7th on the list.  Perhaps Eduardo should be on the list as well.  I think probably yes, but what the hell do I know???

It's clear that these are the Big Dogs with whom you must run -- or else stay on the porch.
Step up and take your cuts, mate.  Best of luck to ya.

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Well when you closely look at it, it was my US Open men's team that let me down. I didn't select a team good enough and that's why I went down... combined to your great team Tony. We only had a few differences but they were enough.

Yep it seems like Edu made a good start in the Yoda crew. Watch out for him next year wink

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Last year, if Nole beats Murray, Dragan is Guru & I'm 2nd.
This year, if Nole beats Rafa, Arnaud is Guru & Tony is 2nd.

Don't let it ride
on Nole
right?

Not & expect
to leave the casino
with big bucks
at the end of the night!

Wanna be the Guru?
Don't let Nole defeat you.  cool

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

I am going to make a Tommy Haas-esque rise up the rankings in 2014!  I just need to learn how to play on hardcourts and play the odds better on Finalist predictions.

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Clearly I'm a dirt baller.  We knew that already.  It was RG '12 that propelled me to Guru.  And most of the best of it was some at the time fairly obscure women's picks that worked out extremely well.

But that damn drippy English tournament -- I forget the name -- that's my undoing.  I need to change shoes.  I keep slipping on the stuff.

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Thanks for creating this for us Arnaud.  I like the name Skywalker GSFT Rankings and we should use Tony's suggestion of Jedi when we next need a name for one of our comps or such.

**I noticed that if your team can hit 1000 pts or better, you have a great chance of being at the top of the leader board and if both of your teams do it, wow you have an awesome shot of at winning a Yoda Cup and then maybe the Guru Title. So getting 1000's are a great goal.

****There were (22) 1000 pts (or over) teams completed by Yoda Crew and here is a Slam by Slam break down:

AO - 9 total - 6 men / 3 women
French - 9 total - 3 men / 6 women
Wimby - 1 men (tono) *it was a wacky fortnight.
US - 3 - 3 women

men - 10  women - 12

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

I had over 1000 on both my Men's and Women's teams at the French and finished 3rd overall in the Yoda Cup.  I kinda feel like David Ferrer.

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

lol Arvis.  Unfortunately the French had a good amount of 1000's completed but at least you finished 3rd.

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

I just want to finish in the Top 10 in a hardcourt Slam next year.

-Arvis

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

I want to be more consistent and not have any really low finishes.  And the less - 16's the better.

I wonder how many we all had?

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Well I need to do better on hard courts too Arvis. My best HC showing is a 6th place in Melbourne. Time to step it up in Australia.. with probably a new team name !

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

I'm sticking with my team name for my Yoda Cup Guru defence next year but I think a new pic is in order, in fact I will probably change my pic at the start of each season regardless of where I finish.

I would really like a Top 3 finish at RG in 2014, that damn red dirt tournament has a knack of tripping me up in Yoda, got through it with a 6th placing this year so that was better than usual for me, a good finish at RG will go a long way to helping me retain my big G status in 2015. wink

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

I'm going to do a better job with my women's picks next year.  I admit I lost interest for most of the year this year and it showed, because my lower ranked women, maybe the best part of my '12 performance, didn't do much.  I will pay closer attention next year.

In retrospect, you could see the Pennetta thing coming if you were watching close enough.

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Haha...ease up on Flavia Don. wink

I have decided to make it official gentlemen. big_smile

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

One very minor correction.  You attributed Scotty's Wimbledon score to those below him in the table.
Otherwise, great!  As I predicted, BHP is on the rise.

Cool! Another spreadsheet!
I have found my spiritual home big_smile

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

This looks awesome! How often does it update?

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

When I have time to do it.. usually I can do it very often but I'm afraid I only will do it once or twice a day for this Australian Open.. (yes, I do it manually)

2016: Rey Saber, Lord Vader, Supreme Jedi, Yoda Crew player of the year
2014: Lord Vader, King Droid, Naboo Champion, Yoda Crew player of the year
2013: Yoda Cup Wimbledon champion, Yoda Cup Guru Runner-up

Re: Skywalker GSFT Rankings

Wow, that's amazing of you to do completely manually.
