Topic: Rebel Alliance Cup 2019

The Rebel Alliance Cup is now in its second year, this is a team competition, USA v Rest of the World. The top 8 scores in GSFT from each team are used in the competition.

The USA are the current holders of the Cup after winning the inaugural competition in 2018.

Australian Open 2019

Team ROW knew they had to come into 2019 prepared after a huge loss to the USA in Melbourne last year. A lot of work was put in during the off season training camp, working with the likes of Hewitt & Lendl, and it really paid off:

ROW 13208
USA  12352

Edu led his team to a huge victory margin of 856 points, putting the Americans on the back foot for the rest of the year. Can they close the gap when the teams next meet on the red clay of Roland Garros?

Re: Rebel Alliance Cup 2019

Well done ROW! That off season training comp was totally worth it!

Re: Rebel Alliance Cup 2019

I have some questions about it. Was it a camp or a comp, or was it a comp camp? Please clarify, ROW. In addition Hewitt gives you unfair advantage, at least according to Bernie. Now, Edu is sort of American too, probably more American than me.

Re: Rebel Alliance Cup 2019

Haha, CAMP of course, spelling mistake. But we did a lot of internal COMPetitions to get the best out of us.
Edu is definitely from the American continent, but not part of the United States of America!

So if you are less american than Edu, may I ask what are your origins then Edgar?

Re: Rebel Alliance Cup 2019

Thanks for clarification, Arnie! I am originally from one of those obscured countries in Europe where tennis is not too popular. So obviously I had to leave.

Re: Rebel Alliance Cup 2019

Obivous reasons indeed! Eastern Europe then?

French Open 2019

Team USA were on the back foot after the Rest of the World posted a massive victory at the Australian Open, 13208 to 12352. Could the USA travel to the clay courts of Paris and put their campaign to defend the Rebel Alliance Cup back on track?

USA  13184
ROW 12856

Yes they could! Wimbo and tenedab led their team mates to a pretty impressive victory.
The USA needed that win to make the 2019 competition competitive. The Rest of the World still enjoy a decent lead, but this result means that there is a lot riding on the final two slams of the year:

ROW 26064
USA 25536

With just over 500 points in it, thoughts now turn to the grass of SW19. The Rest of the World have an opportunity to get some quick revenge in a few weeks, while the USA will be keen to build on this result. Can't wait!

Re: Rebel Alliance Cup 2019

Good bit of banter thrown around in this thread, good to see ROW are still out in front in 2019, we need a solid result at SW19 though.

Thanks for compiling the spreadsheet Jamie. smile
