The person I have the most pick in common is Jamke (12). It shows how different all of our picks are for the tournament!

Re: Australian Open 2019 - Yoda Cup

For posterity:

Johnny's teams seem (dare I say it?) sensible. He even took Rafa. He did go two unseeded on the Men's, but they're both good players, Fucsovics and Stan. He does have Kevin winning the whole thing, though, which is random.
He's also gone two unseeded for the women, with Jabeur and Andreescu. The latter is one I expect we'll all have. The former is more of a risk, but one that could pay off as she is in a section with underperforming players.

Dtrain's hedged his bets with both Rafa and De Minaur on his team. He also took Murray, though, despite his injury and playing RBA in the first round. Sorry, D, I think that's a -16 for you.
For the women he does have Halep, as well as two unseeded in Venus and Bianca.

Charles has a few players to keep an eye on; specifically Alex Z, who consistently struggles at Slams. Will this be the one he finally gets right? Also has Monfils and Seppi, both big question marks; the former from lack of match play and the latter from his draw.
He has also looked at Sloane's inconsistent play lately and decided that she's going to make the finals here. Bold! Has also selected Gavrilova despite her draw.

BHP has snubbed his favorite player Rafa, so this could be a tough tourney for him, emotionally. He's also taken a punt on Goffin, who lost here in the 2nd round last year and isn't looking on form this year. However, he could be a surprise.
BHP's women's team is highly unorthodox: Slam-allergic Svitolina, Bertens who has a terrible draw, unproven Qiang Wang (pronounced KWANG WANG by Johnny), and Sasnovich who, if she even wins her first two matches, would then ostensibly play Bertens.

Edu has fallen for the Busta Bait, who I think is a bad pick but is in a wide open section. Could just as easily be BPs as a -16.
Has Naomi Osaka as runner-up but kinda hedged it by putting Vika on his team as well.

HTS has taken Berdych and Wawa, a combo I think we'll see a lot of here. Totally solid. Has also taken Makarova as unseeded, who just got bageled but has since righted the ship in her 1st rd. Kate's a good Slam player, but still has Sabalenka in the next round if she completes the comeback here.

Tono has what I call "The Sensible Six" on the men's side: 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, and 20. Also has Busta Bait and Berdych to round it out, so he's got a touch of flair to go with that sensibility. Also has backed Vika for women's Unseeded.

Arvis has THREE unseeded men. Why? Why did he need to have three? Where's Dimitrov? What is WRONG with this guy?
His women's team looks more sensible at least, however he couldn't resist betting against Serena yet again and has Kerber as his Winner.

Dwight's another Zverev backer, as well as yet another who's gone Berd/Wawa.
He was also brave enough to pick Sabalenka, which could be a huge difference-maker for him. Also has Poots as his unseeded despite her terrible draw and horrible effort against Bertens in her last match. What will happen there I wonder?

I like Spotec's gutsy double: no Rafa and a De Minaur pick. Could that be amazing BPs for him? Also has Coric on his team, which is a coin flip, and Kevin Anderson as winner like Johnny. Hmm.
On the women's side: no Serena anywhere. Oddly, no Halep either. Who DOES he have in that section? Kenin. Could that be the pick to end all picks?

Murree, who has already had terrible news before the tournament even started, will be eyeing the current Basilashvili match: Murree took him (not a bad pick an hour ago) but he has split sets with Eubanks and was down a break in the 3rd before recovering.
His women's team is much more orthodox, with Mugu being the only question mark.

Adunar has skipped out on the Berdych party in favor of sailing on the SS Diego. Does he not know that the Berd is the word? He's also snubbed Rafa, but supports Zverev.
He's also one Vika short of the Belarussian Trinity, as he has both Sabalenka and Sasnovich on his team.

Mike went super conservative on the men's side, but on the women's side has mixed it up slightly with Svitolina. Also, he's one of many who was thrilled to see Masha throw the Dart so easily to start her tournament.

Snolly has gone completely out of his mind and selected Jack Sock for his unseeded. Worst Pick candidate? Generally, any Sock pick is a Worst Pick candidate, as a rule.
However, I like his women's picks. A gutsy Konta pick, as well as being one of the few who's backed Kvitova. We all know Kvitova's pre-Slam form means very little, so it's not surprising that many have avoided her, but I still like the pick.

TE has Elina and Qiang, which makes his women's team standout, but his men's team is rock solid. He's backed Zverev, but that's about the only risk he's taken there, and it's a small one. He's also taken Kerber to win.

Wimbledonut has gone SUPER risky with Thiem and Kyrgios picks! Both aren't trustworthy here (for different reasons) and have tough 1st rounds, especially Nick who's taking on Raonic straight away.
He's applied that same risk strategy to his women's team as well, banking on Kaia Kanepi to repeat her US Open win over Halep. Would be an amazing pick if she does it. But it doesn't stop there. Wimby has Giorgi and Sevastova on his team, with Kerber as champion. He likely has the Most Unique women's team for the fortnight.

Marco is another Basilashvili picker and will be happy that he squeaked out the 3rd set. Can he wrap this up in the 4th?
He also has Kerber winning. We're getting a few more of these as we go.

Drivers, she of the Unacceptable Risk, has taken quite a few incredible risks! She not only has De Minaur without Rafa, but has Cecchinato on her team, who's an underdog in his first match, as well as John Millman, who faces off against Qatar champ RBA in the 2nd. Definitely a Most Unique men's team candidate.
Her women's team is a bit more common, but she has Kerber defeating Osaka in the final, not Serena.

Tenedab has one of the best Men's teams in the league, imo, with essentially the 8 most popular picks as far as I can tell. On the women's side he's another of the Elina and Qiang school, names that are popping up far more than I anticipated.

OZ has 8 different players as Winner on the Men's side, which seems like an unfair advantage, but hey, i don't make the rules.
He's also selected Feliciano Lopez as his unseeded, a pick I would be very interested in hearing him explain.
On the women's side, he's gone with Cornet as unseeded, which is pretty smart considering how easy her 1st rd opponent is. After that, that whole section is a question mark. He also has Kvitova in the final, which is a gutsy move and no mistake.

CrossCourt also took a chance on Kyrgios, swinging for the fences right away to start the year. He also is a rare Coric backer, which is a pick I actually quite like. Lots of potential in his section for him to go deep.
On the women's side, he's got Bianca for unseeded, which was not nearly as common a pick as I thought when I first started typing this. Also, he's gone ahead and put Woz on his team, another move that's less common than anticipated, considering her status as defending champ.

Re: Australian Open 2019 - Yoda Cup

Thanks Arnie, always good to see the Post Of Awesomeness! smile

All of us Kei pickers got out of jail today...however I think me, Edu, OZ and Mike might taste some blood with PCB though, he is down two sets to love against the guy with the cool name, Luca Vanni. hmm (SCW on Schwartzman) lol
