Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Amazing win from Aiur in Montreal last week, breaking the 2000 point barrier!  Wow!
Aiur had 3 SFists, including both Finalists.  This gives him a 144 point victory over second place TE and 1568 point win over last place HTS.  TE, though, did an amazing job beating the rest of the Top 5.

Current Padme Standings
1. Tenny: 34770
2. TE: -476 ↑231
3. Adunar: -3244 ↓406
4. Drivers: -3947 ↓654
5. Tono: -3983 (replaces Edu in Top 5, beating him by 107)

Although, TE is really threatening now, it was still a decent week for Ol' Tenny, as he gained hundreds more points on Adunar and Drivers.  Drivers, especially, had a bit of a letdown.  Really, though, it's just Tenny and TE who are really competing for the title here.  Something drastically insane would have to happen for that to change at all this year.

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Well, only 3 people had any semifinalists in Cincy, and all 3 only had one each.  Wanna take a wild guess who among those of us who had no semifinalists ended up with the highest score?  You're right, of course: Tenedab, our leader.  He was, in fact, the only one who had no Zeroes on his team.
Still, a huge congrats to Lexus for being the only one to have the winner, Bertens, on his team!  Who knows what the heck Idiot Arvis was thinking when he made his Padme team.  Let's pretend it was a site glitch.  Lexus finished with 1257, and second place Edu also (just barely) broke the 1000 mark with a nice Halep pick.
After finishing last place in Vader here, Dtrain is last in Padme as well, with three Zeroes and a grand total of only 318.

1. Tenedab: 35113
2. TE: -413 ↑63
3. Adunar: -3186 ↑58
4. Edu: -3493 (bumps Tono off the leaderboard)
5. Drivers: -4077 ↓130 ↓ 1 rank

Well... it's not much, but TE inched ever closer to Tenedab.  And Edu's Halep pick sees him launch right back into our Top 5.  Poor Drivers seems to be slowing down and is in danger of falling back off.  Still, our margins in Cincy were much smaller than in Montreal.  Let's see what happens in New Haven!

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Thanks Arvis! Nice summary! You are right, TE is unfortunately getting closer although I think due to overlap you included some scores from New Haven.

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Yeah, that happens, sorry.  I could make sure to subtract current points before posting but this already takes too much time. tongue

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Massive point total for Lexus in New Haven, being the only one to have both finalists and finishing with 962 points! A huge difference over last place Snolly and Murree, who only managed 158 (less than the guy who only picked four players, LOL).  However, none of these people are Top 5 players in this comp.  How did those guys fare?

1. Tenedab: 35735
2. TE: -885 ↓472
3. Adunar: -3579 ↓393
4. Edu: -3832 ↓339
5. Drivers: -4131 ↓51

Wow, Tenedab gains on everyone.  TE is still within striking distance, especially with the USO starting, but Tenedab showed in New Haven why he's #1.

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Lexus had a great US Open on the women's side and finished with the top Padme score of 3550!  Great Pliskova, Sloane, and Keys picks got him there.  That was a MASSIVE 2500 point gap above last place Aiur who didn't have a single player even in the quarters!  Holy crap!
But how did our Padme Top 5 fare?  Let's find out.

Current Padme Standings
1. Tenedab: 39018
2. TE: -1133 ↓248
3. Adunar: -3718 ↓139
4. Edu: -4621 ↓789
5. Drivers: -4920 ↓789

Wow.  A few weeks ago TE was really close to taking the lead from Ol' Tenny.  But now... it's possible that Tenny's August may have guaranteed him the 2018 Padme championship.  Let's see how September and October play out!

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Thanks Arvis, it is always nice to win a Grand Slam, which is quite difficult in the Yoda Crew.
Congratulations to Aiur and Dtrain for their victory in the men's teams.

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Everyone but TE had at least two Zeroes in Quebec here, but TE had a great Heather Watson pick and won that tournament with 231 points.  Things were very different in Hiroshima where Dtrain had 3 SFists and the winner, Hsieh, on his team!  Nicely done, Dtrain!  He finished with a whopping 501 points, a very difficult score to reach in 280s.

Padme Standings
1. Tenedab: 39310
2. TE: -854 ↑279
3. Adunar: -3495 ↑223
4. Edu: -4538 ↑83
5. Drivers: -4667 ↑253

Tenedab picked the right week to have a bad week, when the margins are small.  Still, TE has to be feeling good about these two small tournaments.

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Nice one DTrain!!

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Thanks Drivers!

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Tokyo is where the points were this week and Tenedab came through to maintain his lead.  Although TE was very close in score, Tenny, as well as Murree, beat him by 9 points to get the win here, almost breaking the 1000 point mark and finishing with 985.  Tono brought up the rear with only 257 points.
Snolly and Drivers shared the win in Guangzhou with only 342. Poor Dtrain finished with only 33 here.
But in Seoul we have a Perfect Team!  Spotec got all 4 SFists in Seoul and finished with a huge total of 680 points!  Edu also did well, finishing with 600 while Murree brough up the rear with 312.

Padme Standings
1. Tenedab: 40734
2. TE: -483 ↑371
3. Adunar: -3582 ↓87
4. Drivers: -4277 ↑390 ↑1 rank
5. Edu: -4740 ↓202 ↓1 rank

Tenedab may have held TE off in Tokyo, but in the smaller tournaments TE did enough to take a big chunk out of Tenny's lead.  TE is starting to steadily gain yet again.  Will he keep it up this time?

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Wuhan may have been a dud in brackets, but in teams some points were certainly won!  Only Dwight picked Sabalenka and was rewarded hugely with a final score of over 1000!  Compare that to poor BHPs last place haul of only 111 and you see what a massive score that really is.  Arvis, also, got a decent chunk of points from being the only one to have runner-up Kontaveit.  But neither Dwight nor Arvis matter at all because they're not in the Top 5!
And in Tashkent, nobody would have been UTTERLY INSANE enough to randomly put Gasparyan on their team, so not much hap- *sees Tenedab's team* ..................ok, so Tenedab had Gasparyan.  How?  HOW???  *sigh*
So he scored nearly 500 in a tournament where nobody else (except Spotec) did anything at all.  Ol' Tenny never fails to impress.

Padme Standings
1. Tenedab: 41579
2. TE: -592 ↓109
3. Adunar: -3647 ↓65
4. Drivers: -4284 ↓7
5. Edu: -4863 ↓123

The above numbers *do* reflect a couple matches in Beijing, but either way Tenedab has shown his determination to hang on to his #1 spot here.

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

As a group we actually did pretty good in Wuhan, getting all 4 surprise semi-finalists between us. Well done dwight and Arvis on getting the finalists, fine picking.

By mid-week I was feeling good about making some ground up on tenedab in Wuhan, then looked across at the Tashkent results and had a feeling of doom as Gasparyan slowly but inevitably carved her way through the draw

It's uncanny! What prompted Tenedab to pick Gasparyan!

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

Let's ask Spotec, since he also had her.

*grabs microphone*

Excuse me, Mr. Spotec?  Would you mind telling us what might have prompted you and Tenny to pick Gasparyan?

Re: THE PADME CUP! (Padme League 2018)

The thing Is, we all have random picks and most are a shot in the dark, but TD's 'random picks' have a more strategic touch. .....Actually Spotec seemed to have the same 'affliction for a while last year!! .....
