Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

So Kitzbuhel was a dud.  Nobody had either finalist and Aiur won with just 135 points.  TE and Murree even finished with zeroes.  I guess you could say that, for those two, this tournament was......... *puts sunglasses on* .... pointless?  *everyone cheers*
Not that it matters since, as I said, the high score was only 135.

DC is where the real money was, and Murree won rather comfortably with 860 points, having the winner, a SFist, and two QFists.  He beat last place Drivers by a margin of 770.  Ouch.  Congrats to the four who used a Sasha Z pick here, totally worth it.

To soothe the blow of DC a bit, though, Drivers tore it up over in Los Cabos, winning with 405 points.  Breaking 400 in a 250 is always an achievement, very nicely done.  Great Fognini pick for the Top 5.  I didn't think he'd make the transition to hardcourt so well.

This leaves our current Vader standings as such:
1. Murree: 35170
2. HTS: -1825  ↓455
3. Tenny: -2195 ↓755
4. BHP: -2310 ↓115
5. Spotec: -3220 ↓880

That's right, Murree gained on the entire Top 5 last week with his fantastic DC performance (he also had Fognini in Los Cabos, too).  However, he gained less on BHP, who closed the gap with 3rd place Tenny significantly.  GO BHP!

Oh, and Snolly is still in last place, but he's within less than 1000 of Dtrain.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

Great Tsitsipas pick, Dwight!

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

Yep nice pick Dwight.

I'm enjoying observing this year's Vader contest (from a distance).
After Toronto it's got tight at the top, with HTS, tenedab, BHP and spotec all moving to within 2-3,000 of overall leader Murry. Also, they have all got there with different picks too - some have 2 Fed left, others 2 Rafa or 2 Novak etc, so there are lots of permutations left over the last few weeks.
I also think whoever wins will be a first time winner. That's unless Tono makes one of his comebacks after his Nadal pick in Canada.

I think it will be a first time Vader winner too Jamie, I'm 4000pts back, so I will need some weird ol' picks and lot's of fortunate things to happen if I am to claw my way back from there.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

An excellent win for TE here last week!  He not only had no Zeroes, but had Rafa and Kevin to boot, netting him a final score of 1765!  Tono was 170 points behind him in second.  Snolly continues to find ways to come in last and does so again this week (despite Arvis really trying to help him out) picking a whopping three Zeroes and scoring only 525 points.
For our Top 5, spotec scored the highest with 1000 points.  This means our current Vader standings look like this:

1. Murree: 36065
2. HTS: -1840 ↓15
3. Tenny: -2110 ↑85
4. BHP: -2190 ↑120
5. Spotec: -2940 ↑280

Second place HTS only lost a hair to leader Murree, but Toronto saw the rest of the Top 5 gain a bit on the #1 position. No one moved position though.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

Adunar wins Cincy with a MASSIVE point total of 2410 points!  That's less the 400 off the maximum possible total.  Great job, Ad.  Still, Ol' Tenny and HTS (3rd and 2nd, respectively, going into this tournament) both broke the 2000 point total!  Where does that leave our Vader standings, I wonder?  Considering Murree had both finalists on his team, he should be in good shape, but we'll see.
Only Dtrain missed both finalists, so he finishes in last with 830.  And now, what we really want to see...

1. Murree: 37755
2. HTS: -1635 ↑205
3. Tenedab: -1735 ↑375
4. BHP: -2725 ↓535
5. Spotec: -3745 ↓805

Murree's dominant lead in Vader continues!  However, HTS and Tenny both made pretty significant advances in Cincy.  But Murree's solid effort held them off well, in addition to putting an even huger gap between himself and the 4th and 5th place spots.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

Nice win for Edu in Winstom-Salem with his prescient Medvedev pick!  Care to share your thinking on that pick, Edu?
Edu gets a nice gain on the rest of the field there, scoring 490, 205 points above 2nd place Murree and a whopping 445 over last place Dwight, whose team had three Zeroes.  Murree's second place finish, though, will see him maintain his Vader lead going into the USO.

1. Murree: 38215
2. HTS: -1795 ↓160
3. Tenedab: -1910 ↓175
4. BHP: -2855 ↓130
5. Spotec: -3745 (no change, prob thanks to USO points)

Murree has gained on the entire Top 5!  Can he be stopped?  I'll be posting his USO Vader team later so you know which players to root against!

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

US Open Picks
Rafa - ALL (16)
Delpo - ALL
Novak - ALL
Feddy - ALL
Kevin - 13 (all but Lexus, Aiur, Dtrain)
Cilic - 13 (all but HTS, Aiur, Murree)
Wawa - 5
Kei - 5
Zverev - Tenny, Adunar, BHP
Diego - Arvis, Snolly
Goffin - Aiur, Murree
Isner - Spotec, Tono
Tsitsi - Drivers
Thiem - Aiur
Raonic - Dtrain

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

No Zeroes here, nicely done everyone.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

Literally all of us had both USO finalists so the margins here weren't that huge, but it's still a Slam, so the difference between first and last was still several hundred points. Aiur and Dtrain ended up with the high score of 5360. while poor Drivers finished in last with 4685 thanks to her Tsitsipas pick.

Current Vader Standings
1. Murree: 43220
2. HTS: -1920 ↓125
3. Tenedab: -2360 ↓450
4. BHP: -3305 ↓450
5. Spotec: -3960 ↓215

Really well done, Murree!  I honestly don't know if Murree can be caught.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

Yes very well done Murreee! 2000 pt lead is almost unassailable. I'm going to try to hold off Spotek while charging hard at Ol' Tenny. He'll have plenty of other accolades to keep him happy.

I on the other hand NEED this TOP 3 finish.

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

Snolly, Lexus, and Drivers were the only ones to use a Thiem pick in St. Pete, and of course nobody had Klizan.  Snolly got the win with 430 points, while Adunar brought up the rear with only 4 match wins for 90 points.
It was a different story in Metz, where hardly anyone had any match wins to speak of.  Murree, Dtrain, and Snolly won with 180, less than 100 points over last place Lexus.

Current Vader Standings
1. Murree: 43580
2. HTS: -1965 ↓45
3. Tenedab: -2455 ↓95
4. BHP: -3300 ↑5
5. Spotec: -4055 ↓95

The margins based on this last week are hilariously meaningless.  I'm sure BHP is feeling great about that 5 point gain. lol

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

Am I in the top 10 at least in Vader!

Re: THE VADER TROPHY! (Vader League 2018)

These 250s last week were all over the place, so not a ton of scoring, but still a little.  We had FOUR winners tied for the win in Chengdu with 240 points, but in Shenzhen it was Aiur alone with 200 thanks to his Verdasco pick.

Current Vader Standings
1. Murree: 43850
2. HTS: -1705 ↑260
3. Tenedab: -2520 ↓65
4. BHP: -3305 ↓5
5. Spotec: -3860 ↑195

HTS gained a pretty nice chunk on our leader, Murree!  But is it too little, too late?  We have two 1000s left to go, so perhaps not!
Tragically, the 5 points BHP gained last week he lost this week.  T___T
