Big Three Dominant Once Again at Wimbledon

Sunday, July 7th, 2019

The first week of The Championships at Wimbledon 2019 is now behind us and although there have been numerous upsets in both the men’s and women’s singles draw at SW19, one factor that remains is that the big three of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal remain dominant in the men’s singles championship, it appears highly likely that the 2019 champion will once again come from the infamous trio as Novak, Roger and Rafa each look to extend their already impressive Grand Slam resume’s.

The draw for the defending champion Djokovic looks very manageable from here as he plays the young Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the round of sixteen and will then face the winner between David Goffin and the unseeded Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in the quarter-finals, the semi-final opponent for Djokovic looks like being either the big-serving Canadian Milos Raonic or perhaps the durable Spaniard Roberta Bautista Agut, eight-time Wimbledon champ Federer (2nd seed) faces the in-form Italian Matteo Berrettini next up and will then clash with the winner between Kei Nishikori (No.8 seed) and the unseeded Kazak Mikhail Kukushkin in the last eight, Fed’s likely semi-final opponent appears that it will be his long time nemesis Nadal (No.3 seed), unless the unseeded American Sam Querrey can serve his way through to the last four.

The women’s singles championship is also shaping up as an interesting battle with current Roland Garros champion and new world No.1 Ash Barty and seven-time Wimbledon more »
