Tennis’ GOAT’S Prove Their Worth In Melbourne

What an amazing fortnight of Grand Slam tennis we all witnessed in Melbourne, Australia, what was even more amazing is that the respective male and female tennis GOAT both ended up winning their respective singles championship, Roger Federer claimed Grand Slam title No.18 when he defeated his longtime nemesis Rafael Nadal in a classic and thrilling five set men’s final while Serena Williams broke the Open era record of Steffi Graf with her 23rd Grand Slam singles title with a straight sets victory over her brave sister Venus Williams, both Federer and Williams have surely now put to rest the debate about who is the Greatest Of All Time among each gender.

Federer’s achievement in winning his fifth Australian Open is simply remarkable, the Swiss Maestro is 35 years of age and took a hiatus from the game after Wimbledon last year to rest and recuperate a knee problem, he played reasonably well at the Hopman Cup teams event in Perth in early January but nobody, not even him, would have expected the great man to roll his way through the draw to not only make the final but then go on and win it, the fact it was against Rafa made it even sweeter for all those Federer fans but wasn’t Nadal so gracious in defeat, the sight of another major Fedal final had all tennis fans eagerly anticipating another great contest and the two great champions produced the goods once again.
