Final Four To Battle It Out In Paris

Jun 4, 2014

So, we are down to the final four players in the respective men’s and women’s championship at Roland Garros 2014 in Paris, the top two men’s seeds Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic remain on a collision course to meet in the men’s decider on Sunday but standing in the way of that showdown is Andy Murray and Ernests Gulbis respectively, in the women’s event it appears that former champion Maria Sharapova and, the highest remaining women’s seed, Simona Halep (No.4 seed) are also on a collision course to meet in their championship decider, standing in the way of that happening is the young Canadian Eugenie Bouchard and the resurgent German Andrea Petkovic respectively.

It will be the women’s turn first to determine who will advance to Saturday’s title match against one another, Sharapova is the only former Grand Slam champion left in the women’s draw and she must start favourite against Bouchard in the first semi-final on Chatrier, meanwhile Halep and Petkovic will then square off to decide who will make their first ever major championship final, the women’s draw has seen numerous upsets in Paris this year, will Maria also fall victim and give either Bouchard, Halep or Petkovic a chance for Grand Slam glory, only time will tell as we look forward to two intriguing semi-finals I the women’s section.

The day after we know who the women’s finalist’s are, we will all look forward with great anticipation to the two men’s semifinal’s between Nadal and Murray and Djokovic and Gulbis respectively, Rafa appears to be hitting his stride at the right time and the eight-time French Open champ will be the clear favourite against Andy in their quarter-final clash, the Djokovic/Gulbis semi could be a great battle with the Latvian finally realising his potential by going deep at a Grand Slam tournament for the first time, Ernests has taken out Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych in succession, can he add Novak to his list of casualties in Paris this year I wonder, if he does then he will stop what most people are predicting in the men’s championship, a showdown between the top two ranked players in the world, will Rafa rack up title number nine in Paris or will Novak finally complete his much sought after career Grand Slam at Roland Garros, or will we see a total different outcome altogether in the men’s section with Murray or Gulbis prevailing, the excitement is mounting in Paris as build towards the climax of Roland Garros 2014, who do you think will prevail?
